The San Juan Capistrano OCCC office got a warm welcome from the community at the Open House on January 27th. Dozens of people came to learn more about the program and to celebrate the OCCC’s expansion, including the mayor, Hon. Larry Kramer, the mayor pro tem, Hon. John Taylor of San Juan Capistrano and the president of the Saddleback Valley Unified School District, Ginny Fay Aitkens. People gathered, mingled, took tours of the facilities and learned more about what the OCCC does in San Juan Capistrano. Some corpsmembers came and shared their experiences. There was such a good turnout that the refreshments had to be served on the patio outside. South County Program Specialist Esther Landin got several requests to make presentations in the community. She said the event not only allowed her to share about the program but allowed her to meet a lot of people she had only met over the phone.
