Student of the Month – January 2013

Nicolas Bautista

Nicolas Bautista has no fear of schoolwork, even when it includes holding a tarantula. Students were encouraged to hold this eight-legged lady after a guest presentation on arthropods in December. Most students felt apprehensive, but agreed to the task, and Bautista was no exception. He had been a Corps Academy student for about four months before being hired as a corpsmember in November. He had glowing reviews of his academic performance in Corps Academy and has continued to be a good example in his classes. His teacher, Laura Veloz, said, “He has a great attitude towards his peers, always carrying an infectious smile.” His smile and enthusiasm made an appearance even as he conquered his fear of creepy-crawlies.
