The Move!

Things are “moving” right along with the OCCC’s new school building. Teachers and staff have moved in, and classes have begun. The 8,500 square foot building has five classrooms, one computer lab, nine offices, one large common area for the Programs Department, an inside and outside break area and multiple file rooms. This addition will allow the OCCC to dedicate one of the current buildings entirely to recycling and the other to administrative offices. The corpsmembers have reacted very positively to the new space, showing excitement over everything from the windows to the new classrooms’ smell. The building has already given corpsmembers a new sense of ownership of their education. A couple of them observed that it looks like a “real school.” Corpsmember Elias Larios likes the quieter atmosphere and larger classrooms.  Plus, he said, “it looks cool!”
