From Irvine’s Senior Earth Day to the Israel Expo to our own graduation ceremony, OCCC crews have spread the word about recycling in the last few months.
On April 14, an OCCC crew got to participate in the first City of Irvine Runway Dash at the Orange County Great Park. The event combined a family 5K run/walk, electronic recycling, green crafts and other family-oriented, environmentally-friendly activities. The OCCC assisted with the city’s Environmental Programs booth, where corpsmembers facilitated an environmental game and interacted with guests.
The OCCC provided recycling services and informational booths at a wide variety of events like the annual Walk MS event at UC Irvine, the City of Orange’s “Clean Your Files” day for City Hall, Propel Fuels‘s Grand Opening event in Fullerton and the annual County of Orange Green Fair. At the 4th Annual Community Resource Fair at Irvine Valley College alone, the OCCC recycled 445 pounds of recyclable materials.
