The Orange County Conservation Corps initiated an on-site education program in 2002. SInce then, over 400 high school dropouts have earned their high school diplomas.
The OCCC works in partnership with John Muir Charter School (JMCS) to provide specialized instruction five days a week. JMCS adheres to a stellar curriculum meshed with outstanding instruction.
All JMCS teachers are fully credentialed by the state of California and are passionate about working with students that have struggled on various levels in the past:
• Our school provides first-rate California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) preparation as well as California Standard based instruction in all academic subjects required by the state.
• JMCS students improve their scores more on the CAHSEE than all other 10th grade high school students in California.
• We provide our students with small class sizes designed around each student's learning style and competency level, one-on-one counseling , career planning, real world and hands-on application opportunities.
• Certified instruction in Stephen R. Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens and incentive opportunities foreign to most traditional public schools.
